Rum Royale is dedicated to creating a safer space for learning about and enjoying rum responsibly where we prioritize consent and respect.  We want to ensure our events are participatory, local, safer, and inclusive experiences for all of our attendees, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, committee members, and staff.

 

Everyone at Rum Royale, including attendees, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, committee members and staff, are governed by our Code of Conduct and are required to adhere to the standards of conduct established herein:

  1.  All people will be addressed by their preferred pronoun and we shall use inclusive language such as "folks". Please feel comfortable in stating your pronoun preference.

  2. As part of Rum Royale’s duty of care, Rum Royale is dedicated to a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments (related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race and religion), sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

  3. The safety of attendees is among our top priorities, Rum Royale will address any allegations brought to our attention with support; a thoughtful investigation and review; and appropriate sanctions in partnership with The Dandelion Initiative, a non-profit organization providing safety education and gender-based violence response-education to the hospitality industry. 

  4. if someone makes you, or anyone else with you feels unsafe or unwelcome, please disclose this to us as soon as possible. If you wish to report an incident or harassing behaviour on-site, look for Security or our Safety Stewards who will be dressed in red Rum Royale t-shirts.

  5. If you prefer to disclose this after the event, please email Founder Robin Wynne at robin@rumroyale.com who will personally ensure a timely response and the utmost discretion.

  6. Rum Royale will follow regulations set forth by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission. 

  7. Attendees are strongly encouraged to eat before and during any of the events, as well as encouraged to drink plenty of water and take regular breaks from tastings. 

  8. At any of our events, Safety Stewards and Security will be on duty throughout to offer help and protection of all visitors and vendors. Security will ask anyone who is inebriated or becomes disruptive or offensive to other visitors or vendors to leave the event immediately.

  9. No re-admittance will be granted to anyone who has been asked to leave the event or who has been removed from the event for the above reasons.

  10. In the case of an emergency, please dial 911 and notify a staff person, Safety Steward or Security personnel as soon as possible.

  11. If you have any special requirements or are likely to require additional assistance, please advise us at info@rumroyale.com so we may make the appropriate accommodations.

  12. If you require ASL interpretation, please email us to info@rumroyale.com so we may make the appropriate accommodations.
